In the run-up to tattoo removal there are a few issues that need to be dealt with as part of a personal consultation. Some of the details can already be outlined here.
Principle of tattoo removal
A tattoo remains in the skin because the pigment particles are too large to be broken down by the body. This is where the laser comes into action: The laser’s energy breaks the ink into tiny fragments which can then be naturally broken down and cleared away by the lymphatic system – the tattoo disappears.
Extremely precise energy delivery by the laser ensures that the surrounding tissue is not damaged.

What should I expect?
Important information on tattoo removal
Tattoo removal be means of Nd:YAG laser is gentle and almost painless. This treatment does not leave scars. After the laser sessions you will, however, feel a temporary burning sensation – similar to sunburn – on the treated area. Generally, between 6 and 12 sessions are required for the removal of a tattoo. Between sessions it is necessary to observe a pause of 4-8 weeks duration.
Which colors can be removed?
In principle, both dark and light colors can be removed completely. This goal, however, is made more challenging when impure tattoo ink containing, for example, metallic pigments was used.
Cover-up treatment and the removal of permanent make-up
Laser treatment is the treatment of choice even if you are just interested in lightening a tattoo that you already have (so-called “cover-up”) to make room for a new tattoo in the same position. Of course, you can also remove or correct permanent make-up with the YAG laser.
